Our two sons have been enrolled at Rossville Christian Academy for the past 4 years. Our oldest son is now a senior in high school and our youngest is in seventh grade. They were enrolled at Rossville after spending 1.5 years in the Mississippi public school system (Potts Camp elementary and middle school). Prior to moving to Mississippi, we had lived in California. We were very disappointed in the Mississippi public school system, particularly the middle school, as bullying was rampant and teachers highly transient. We spent a lot of time researching area schools to find the one that best served our children and values and RCA fit our needs.
What we love most about Rossville is the caring, welcoming environment they provide for both students and parents. The students respond positively to the feeling of being part of a family-like atmosphere. The class sizes are small and there are numerous long-term dedicated teachers. Parents are involved as part of the curriculum and receive daily communication from the teachers.
Rossville customizes learning for each student and provides a range of extracurricular activities including STEM, 4H, Spanish, art, drama, choir, student government, honors/Beta, a variety of sports and study abroad. They are accredited with AdvancED Global Commission (now known as Cognia) which provides them with a vast education resource including the Mid-South Association of Independent Schools Virtual Network. This enables students to take customized online accredited classes under the guidance of RCA teachers. For example, this year our senior is taking a graphic design course to advance his art experience prior to college. Last year he participated in RCA’s study abroad program where he toured Greece, and this year he will be going to London and Paris. We feel confident in the college prep he has received at RCA, and he will be attending a four year university after graduation.
Our youngest son thrived during his time at RCA elementary. He is a highly functioning student who can become bored with routine classwork. RCA teachers ensured that he was given reinforcing challenges to keep his interest and advance his education. He’s also a very quiet and shy child who can easily be overlooked and misunderstood. The teachers at RCA took the time to understand his personality and needs.
We highly recommend RCA for any parents looking for a caring environment with customizable learning options.
