Mr. Alexander graduated from Baptist College of Health Sciences with a degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology. He is excited to teach biology and chemistry, helping students discover there is always more to learn and that’s part of what makes life fun! He and his wife, Lindsey, have a 2-year-old son, Stephen, and reside in Memphis. For 15 years, he has been involved as a choreographer and lighting designer for The Singing Christmas Tree at Bellevue Baptist Church. His hobbies include reading, enjoying good food, and going to the zoo and Disney World.
5th & 6th Grade
Mrs. Bell is proud to say she grew up in a military family, and received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Crichton College. Kelly has 17 years of teaching experience, with 14 of those years in Collierville schools. While teaching in Collierville Schools, Kelly served as science committee chair, grade level chair, curriculum facilitator, and was awarded the honor of Teacher of the Year in 2012. Most recently, Kelly worked as a literacy coach for Millington schools. Kelly and her husband have three grown children. When school is not in session, Kelly can be found in the great outdoors camping, boating, walking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Boyle is proud to be an “Okie” from Oklahoma and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Oklahoma State University. She has over 20 years of experience in Early Childhood Education: 17 years as a teacher, and 3 years as a Childcare Center Director. While teaching in Fayette County Schools, Gilda was honored to be District Teacher of the Year 2019-20 and Teacher of the Year at Southwest Elementary 2018-19. For the last two years, Gilda has served as a CLASS-trained Observer for the State of Tennessee for Pre-K classrooms. Also, she has served on multiple committees, including the Pre-K Advisory Board, Superintendent Instructional Leadership Council, Pre-K Team Leader, and Teacher Mentor. Gilda also has a love for cheerleading; with experience as a Cheerleading Coach, Mrs. Boyle will assist with our Elementary Cheer Teams. Gilda and her husband have four grown children who live in Nashville. She and her husband can be found camping, making memories at Disney World, and spending time with her family and fur babies!
Andrew Cook is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a degree in Music Education. He has been teaching band for over five years and performed in athletic marching bands throughout high school and college. Mr. Cook directs our Pride of the Pack Pep and Marching Bands, as well as teaches middle school classes. Additionally, he is the Music Minister at Whitten Baptist Church and Director of Bands at The Shepherd’s Horn Homeschool School of Music. Andrew is married to Mary Love and has two wonderful boys, Edward and Samuel. Andrew’s favorite Bible verse is Roman 8:1, “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Mrs. Eskew is from a small town near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood. She is certified in Gifted Education and Montessori. Mrs. Eskew received her National Board Certification in 2001 and renewed it in 2012. She has been teaching for 22 years. She is married to Eric and attends East Shelby Church of Christ. Mrs. Eskew is guided by her favorite quote: “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” -Ignacio Estrada
Ms. Frazier graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in Early Childhood: Child and Family Studies. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. Ms. Frazier has four years of experience in the classroom and says she is so excited to teach 3rd grade at RCA. She aspires to have a classroom rooted in faith, kindness, and an excitement for learning. Her hobbies include music, crafting, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling her dog, Leo! Her favorite quote is “How cool is it that the same God who created mountains, oceans, and galaxies looked at you and thought the world needed one of you, too?”
Lead Learning Specialist
Hailey Haynes graduated from Harding University with a K-6 Elementary Education and K-12 Special Education Degree. She taught Kindergarten at RCA in the 2018-2019 school year and is now the Learning Differences Specialist for the FLEX program. She was born and raised in Memphis, TN and goes to Germantown Church of Christ. Hailey’s favorite quote is “Everybody can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way.” -George Evans.
HS Bible & History
A native of East Tennessee, Keith Hayworth moved to West Tennessee in the 1990s. Mr. Hayworth is a graduate of Carson-Newman University (B.A.) and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (M.A.). He has been teaching at RCA since 2000. He is currently finishing his dissertation in History at the University of Memphis. He lives with his wife, Vickie, in Hickory Valley, Tennessee where he is also a pastor.
Ms. Honeycutt has a Bachelor’s degree in education from The University of Tennessee at Martin. She is also certified to teach gifted students in the state of Tennessee in grades kindergarten through twelfth grades. She earned a Master’s degree from The University of Memphis in Administration and Supervision. In fifth grade, she teaches Bible, science, social studies, vocabulary, and math. Ms. Honeycutt also teaches sixth grade science and social studies. She has a daughter that graduated from RCA that is now attending college.
Wellness, Psychology, ACT Prep, and Entrepreneurship
Kendall is a graduate of Delta State University. There, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology while playing offensive line for the Fighting Okra for five years. In his third year at RCA, Coach Hunter teaches Wellness, Psychology, ACT Prep, and Entrepreneurship. He is the Head Football Coach for the Mighty Rossville Wolves. Kendall is a proud father of three, and he values the mental strength of our students today. His favorite Bible verse is John 15:15, “I no longer call you servants; instead, I call you friend.”
Orton-Gilingham Certified Reading Teacher, The Erika Center at Bodine School at RCA
Lori Kellum has always loved working with children. After graduating from the University of Mississippi, she worked in Child Life at a local children’s hospital and later taught elementary school. When her youngest daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia, she saw how life-changing the Orton-Gillingham (OG) method for teaching reading could be. She completed her OG training in 2019 through the Bodine School, and since then, has utilized this approach to teach and tutor children privately. She taught classes at Bodine’s Summer Reading Camp and is excited to be teaching at RCA this year!
Ms. Kelly graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. With experience teaching Kindergarten, Ms. Kelly is passionate about setting a strong academic, social, and spiritual foundation for children in their earliest years of school. In addition to teaching kindergarten, we are thrilled to have Ms. Kelly begin an elementary choir program for our students! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family and traveling to her favorite place, the beach. One of her favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 40:31, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength […]”.
Kimberly Kochan has been a teacher and senior sponsor at RCA for 19 years. She specializes in History, Government, Economics. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education History and Government. She and her husband Michael have two girls who attend RCA. They are members of Hickory Withe First Baptist Church where she teaches the 4 year old class. One of her favorite Bible verses is Romans 12: 3-8, “According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one’s faith, if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching.” Besides teaching, some of her favorite things to do are crochet, travel and cooking.
Mrs. Moody graduated from Delta State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences, alongside an emphasis in both Math and Special Education. Utilizing this background to differentiate instruction, Mrs. Moody will be teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry. Mrs. Moody is beginning her fifth year of teaching, and is delighted to bring her love of Math to the classroom. She and her husband Jonathon have two children, and in her free time, she enjoys sports, especially baseball, and spending time with her church community.
Mrs. Moore graduated from Rhodes College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English Literature and will complete her Master’s of Arts in Teaching from the University of Memphis in 2022. She and her husband live in Rossville with their three daughters, two of whom currently attend RCA. Previously, Lauren taught middle and high school English at RCA before taking time to stay home with her daughters. Now she says, “I am so excited to come back to the Pack as both a parent and teacher!”
Aside from education, her hobbies include painting, cooking for friends, and spending weekends on the lake.
Mrs. Murphey earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from The University of Southern Mississippi and has eleven years of teaching experience in both public and faith-based schools. She and her husband, Josh, have two children, Sadie and Jake, who also attend RCA. The Murpheys are involved at Living Hope Church in Piperton, and they enjoy serving with a local nonprofit to minister to families in Peru.
Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a Master of Arts in Teaching. With almost 20 years of experience in education, she loves teaching 4th grade and being part of the RCA family! She has been married to Brian for 25 years, and they have two sons. She is a member of St. Patrick Presbyterian Church. Her favorite scripture is Colossians 3:11, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.
Mrs. Nelson has 14 years of experience as an educator, with over 10 years as a kindergarten teacher. She is a graduate of Mississippi State University and is certified K-8th. Mrs. Nelson served on the committee to create the Kindergarten Report Card and Assessment Guide for Collierville Schools. She also was a Kindergarten Science Curriculum Committee member helping to create the Scope and Sequence and Assessments for the district. Mrs. Nelson attends Collierville Baptist Church and has coached youth basketball for two years. She grew up in Fayette County and has two girls with her husband, Jedidiah. She loves basketball, running, going to the lake, reading, and family time.
Mrs. Page graduated from Rust College with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (1997) and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi (2010). She began her teaching career as a Teacher’s Assistant, and now has taught for 20 years, 13 in public and 7 in independent schools, with experience as a Language Arts and History teacher and an Alternative School teacher. In 2011, Mrs. Page was honored to be named Galena Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year, as well as Marshall County Teacher of the Year. She has served in various leadership and extracurricular roles including Mentor Teacher, Chair of Testing and Data Committee, high school Track Coach, Beta Club, Cheer, and Student Council Sponsor. In addition to teaching, she loves reading and traveling. She and her husband live in Lamar, MS and have three beautiful, smart children. Mrs. Page says, “There are three things I enjoy and never take for granted in life: My faith, family, and friends.”
Elem. Music & Library MS/HS Choir Director
Penny Ray graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a bachelors degree in Music Education (K-12). Also, she is certified in Levels I and II in the Orff music method. Penny is the elementary music teacher and the elementary librarian. Additionally, she is the middle & high school Choir Director and the STAR Testing Coordinator. Penny has been teaching at RCA for ten years. She has been married for 21 years and has two beautiful daughters and their family is a member of Fisherville Baptist Church.
P.E., Head Varsity Boys Basketball, Athletic Director
Kevin Rhyan is an alumni of RCA, class of 2005. He received his bachelors degree in Physical Education from Philander Smith College. Coach Rhyan teaches P.E. and is the Head Coach of the Varsity Boys Basketball team. He has been teaching for five years, serving three years with Shelby County Schools before joining RCA. Coach Rhyan is married and has a son, and they attend church at Devine Restoration Ministries in Moscow, TN. His passion is basketball and mentoring the youth.
HS Spanish, Yearbook
Mrs. Sanchez-Romero, a native Spanish speaker, was born and raised in Merida, Venezuela. She attended the Universidad de los Andes, and earned a degree in Graphic Design. After moving to Memphis six years ago, she attended the University of Memphis where she completed an intensive course in English for Internationals. Mrs. Romero is very happy to be sharing the love that she has for her language and culture with her students. In her free time, Mrs. Romero loves to cook Venezuelan food, exercise, and create graphics.
Cara Russell is a kindergarten teacher at RCA. During her teaching career she has taught various grade levels ranging from Pre-K – 4th grade in several different states. She attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan where she received her B.S. in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood. Cara is married to Josh, and they have two sons; you can often find their family on the baseball field! Mrs. Russell believes that all children are capable of GREAT things and it is her job to help guide them and make them realize it!
Sara Russell joined the RCA staff in 2015. She has been teaching 1st grade for 20 years. Mrs. Russell holds a bachelor in Early Childhood Education from the University of Memphis. She loves reading and tries to instill that life long love of reading to her students. She is married and has two children who also attend RCA. Mrs. Russell attends Collierville United Methodist Church where she is actively involved in Stephen Ministry and youth group. She is thankful to teach at a school where they put God first. “May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
Mrs. Schwalb is beginning her fifth year as 11th and 12th grade English teacher at Rossville Christian Academy. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Schwalb is assuming a new role as Director of Development. In this role, Mrs. Schwalb will work to promote RCA, form business partnerships, enrich the culture at RCA, and aid in student recruitment.
Mrs. Sheffield holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Education and an Associate’s in Architecture Engineering Technology. She has been teaching for ten years, three at RCA. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for almost 30 years and has two wonderful children. In the classroom, the love of science is taught using real-world applications as students strive for a strong, Christian-based understand of the world around them. Currently she teaches 7th grade science, physical science, physics and high school STEM.
Mr. Thompson is a graduate of Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary with a Bachelor’s of Christian Studies. He currently is pursuing a Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Coach Thompson and his wife, Kristen, reside in East Memphis and they enjoy spending time outdoors with their chocolate lab Clover!
Coach Thompson’s desire is for every student to know the Gospel and grow in their understanding of the God of the Bible. One of his favorite verses is Philippians 1:27, “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.”
Coach Thompson’s hobbies include good coffee, hunting, golfing, grilling, watching college football (Go Vols & Go Tigers!) and Grizzles basketball! Welcome
RCA is excited to welcome Mrs. Erin Walker as another 4th grade teacher! Erin is a graduate of the University of Memphis with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Special Education. She and her husband live in Moscow with their two daughters. Mrs. Walker has seven years of experience in education in 3rd and 4th grades. She is passionate about making learning fun for students!
Erin’s hobbies include painting, crafting, and spending time camping with her family. One of her favorite Bible verses is Esther 4:14, “Perhaps you were created for such a time as this.” Mrs. Walker says she is thrilled to be part of the Pack!
Head Coach Varsity Girls
Coach Kendrick Watkins graduated from Rossville Christian Academy in 2005. He was a multi-sport athlete and was a member of the 2005 State Championship Basketball team. Coach Watkins played college football and basketball at Coahoma Community College. For the past five years, Coach Watkins has served in multiple capacities in the educational field, including two years in Special Education.
Coach Watkins has a variety of experience coaching including football assistant coach and offensive coordinator, and head girls basketball coach. He was the offensive coordinator for the 2017 West Tennessee All-Star Team and an assistant coach for the 2018 West Tennessee All-Star Game. As a head girls basketball coach, he led teams to win the Murray State Team Camp Runners-Up in 2018, West Carroll Christmas Tournament Champions in 2019, and Best of West Champions in 2019. Coach Watkins will join Coach Hunter as the Defensive Coordinator.
Elementary Art & STEM
Meshell Williams has been teaching at RCA since 2003. She began teaching preschool, then second grade, and currently is teaching Elementary art and STEM. Meshell earned her Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Memphis. She likes to read and hang out with her dachshund. Meshell attends church at Kirk Baptist Church, where she is in the choir and enjoys participating in summer mission trips.
5th & 6th Grade
Mrs. Wilson was raised in Rossville, TN and has always loved her hometown. She graduated from Union University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education with a minor in Professional Education. Mrs. Wilson is entering her third year of teaching, and is very excited to be teaching 6th grade at RCA. She loves math and engaging students in learning! Meredith recently married her high school sweetheart, Conner, and she loves tending to her flower farm, playing with her dog, and hanging out with family and friends.
Dr. Adam Winchell
Dr. Winchell holds multiple degrees in the fields of mathematics and science and has professional experience in medical research and design with St. Jude. He earned his Ph. D & Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Memphis & University of Tennessee, Health Science Center. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (Biomedical Engineering) & Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Winchell is an active member of Collierville United Methodist Church.
